If you’re staying in a South Devon caravan park through August, you may well want to head to Brixham, a town renowned for its seafront, fish markets, and close association with pirates. There’s an annual pirate festival, plenty of piratical events throughout the year, and many opportunities for you to get involved in the world of maritime thieves.
Chances to do exactly that are available every Thursday afternoon in August, as the Musketeers and the Pirates take to Brixham Harbour for a fabulous bit of street theatre. There will be swashbuckling galore, and don’t be surprised if a few pistol shots are even fired off as these two fierce forces fight.
You should be able to find them from 12 noon to around 5pm, and it’s a free event, though donations to the Buccaneers are obviously welcomed. If you’re going to be on a summer holiday in the area, it could make up part of a great day out in the town.
