If you’re going to be staying in a Devon holiday park around February 10ths then you’ll be able to take the opportunity to head to Cricklepit Mill and watch an important part of industrial history in action. The mill, driven by two waterwheels, each from the 1800s, represents the important revolution that machinery brought into numerous industries throughout the world.
You’ll be able to talk to the expert Cricklepit millers as they go about their business and see all the impressive mechanisms of the water driven mill at work. The millstones are turned, which is the traditional way of grinding wheat, and flour is deposited out the sides of the stones, ready to be gathered and put into sacks.
It’s an educational day out for the family that plenty of people should enjoy, and is a great way of getting people to think about the processes behind the food they buy.
