48 hours in Brixham

South Devon is famed for being the heart of the English Riviera. Think blue waters, white sands and glorious palm trees and you could be fooled into thinking you’d somehow stumbled abroad!

We’re lucky to South Bay Holiday Park close to the bustling harbour of Brixham. If you’re keen for a blissful weekend caravan holiday, here’s what you can do in 48 hours in Brixham:

Explore the Golden Hind

The harbour’s most iconic water-resident is the replica Golden Hind ship. Visitors can come aboard and explore the impressive replica and learn about the original ship’s history. With exhibitions below deck, it’s fun for everyone in all weathers.

Take a boat tour

For sightseeing cruises, boat excursions and ferry services, Greenway Ferries and Pleasure Cruises have got all your water exploration covered. Departing from Brixham harbour, it’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon on the turquoise waters.

Local animal attractions

Brixham is close to Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts aquarium, so you can get your animal fix! Both a great day out for the family, if you don’t have sea legs for boat tours and ship replica’s it’s the perfect alternative.

Coves and Bays

If you just fancy a morning or afternoon on relaxing on the beach, then our holiday park has direct access down some steep steps to the iconic St Mary’s Bay. A secluded sandy beach, this bay is just a short walk to Berry Head Nature Reserve – a great way to watch for local wildlife or build sand castles to your heart’s content! Hop over to other coves such as Fishcombe or Churston if you want to escape the crowds and have a swim.

Wine and dine

Take an evening out to enjoy some the catch-of-the day at any of the local restaurants in the harbour. For something extra special, you can enjoy locally-produced wine at the Sharpham Vineyard and Cheese Dairy, overlooking the River Dart.

Walkers’ paradise

Brixham is home to a beautiful section of the South West Coast Path, boasting dramatic cliffs, wooded valleys and high moorlands. You can also hike around Berry Head Nature Reserve, ideal for coastal walks to spot wildlife and take in the stunning views across the Bay.

All you need to do now is decide which combination of amazing activities you'll choose to fill your 48 hours in Brixham!
