Devon is famed for its beautiful coast and enchanting countryside. We’ve got five fantastic walks to tick off your list.
Wistman’s Wood
2.8 miles/4.5km an easy to moderate walk
The ancient woodland sits amongst Dartmoor National Park and is accessed via a marked path from Two Bridges car park. Walk amongst the amazing lichen-covered trees that make up a forest, unspoilt for hundreds of years.

Heddon Valley to Foreland Point
9 miles/14.5km a challenging walk
If you’re looking for a hike with some oompf, this route will see you scale 900m of ascent between two National Trust sites. The perfect mixture of coast and woodland, it’s got some of the best views around.

Teign Gorge
4.3 miles/6.9km a moderate walk
Head off from your starting point at the iconic Castle Drogo, and head into the Devonshire woodlands through Piddledown Common and Fingle Wood. Enjoy the tranquillity of being amongst the trees, streams and dappled sunlight whilst you take in the sounds of nature.

East Lyn River
6.8 miles/11km a moderate walk
Flowing down to the North Devon village of Lynmouth, the East Lyn River rises high above Exmoor. A stunning walk through ancient woodland, it begins at the National Trust site in Lynmouth and follows the river up through majestic Rockford before leading back around to the coast.

Brixham and Berry Head
4 miles/6.4km a moderate walk
This wonderful circular walk starts in the picturesque harbour of Brixham, home to the impressive replica of the Golden Hind ship. Taking in a section of the South West Coastal Path, walkers can enjoy an old fort and gun battery along the way, before reaching Berry Head, home to a superb nature reserve teaming with native wildlife.
