Autumn is officially here at our North Devon holiday parks - but do not fear! With the leaves turning brown and the chill in the air there are loads of reasons to be excited about the next coupld of months, here are 5 reasons to look forward to autumn!

Foraging - Plants have been gathering goodness and have been stored into fruit bundles for the winter and there is plenty of food waiting to be picked including; blackberries, raspberries, sloes and rose hips. Please only take what you are confident you can positively identify: if in doubt, leave it out.

Surfing - So many people come to North Devon to surf in the summer but the waves are getting to their best now! The sea is still fairly warm and there is no fear of crowds of tourist like in the summer months, and autumn and winter generate some of the best surfing conditions, consistent swell and bigger waves!

Conkers- Already conkers have started to fall, so autumn is a great time to start building your collection. Hardening, painting and putting them on string is all part of the fun to take part in the famous conker games!

Halloween - There are a lot of spooktacular events going on around North Devon over Halloween including the Fun By Day Festival at The Big Sheep which runs for October Half Term wih lots of Halloween themed days. Or try workshops and pumpkin carving at Atlantic Village in Bideford or head to Queen's Theatre in Barnstaple for a spooky screening of Casper the friendly ghost!

Autumn leaves - The scenary around our North Devon holiday parks is stunning all year round, but there is something special about autumn and the colours changing around us. It doesn't get much more fun than running through and kicking a pile of crunchy leaves!
