7 reasons why you should make West Cornwall your next holiday destination
Thinking of where to take your next UK break? Well, look no further… because here are 7 reasons why west Cornwall should be the next destination on your travel list. And the best bit… you don’t even need to catch a flight!
So, why west Cornwall? You really could be anywhere in the world…
1. CORNWALL OR THE CARIBBEAN?
Cornwall is renowned for its stunning coastline, and with clear turquoise waters that rival the Caribbean, you’ll feel like you’ve jetted away - without the hefty price tag!
With pretty coves and white sand beaches, you’ll find it hard to pick your favourite spot to sit and look out to sea. And if you’d rather a day on the water, there are plenty of boat trips and excursions to choose from.

2. THE MINACK THEATRE
This iconic cliffside theatre is a must for those who love the arts, stunning scenery, beautiful gardens or just have an interest in really unique venues!
View their 'What's On' guide to see if you can catch a performance. But if nothing takes your fancy, you can still explore the site and gardens at your leisure. There’s even a café to get a spot of lunch.
It can be incredibly busy especially during peak periods, so advanced booking is highly advised if this is one on your to-do list. Remember your sensible footwear as there will be lots of stairs and narrow walkways during your visit. And those with furry friends are also welcome to soak up the atmosphere!

3. INSPO FOR YOUR INSTA GRID
Whether you love taking snaps of the family, are a keen photographer or fancy yourself as the next travel influencer, west Cornwall will provide the perfect backdrop for your next insta-dump. With plenty of photo opportunities from the iconic signpost at Land's End to the fairy-tale worthy St Michael's Mount.

And if it’s just pretty scenery you’re after, you’ll be spoilt for choice. With a dramatic mix of rugged coastline, ancient moors, historic fishing villages and beautiful bays, your grid will be filled with plenty of interest for your followers.

4. LIFE’S A BEACH
Want the perfect place to walk the dog? Or is it a sea swim, rock pooling and sandcastle building on the agenda? Day in the surf? Or fish and chips on the dunes? Cornwall’s coast provides the beaches, you get to choose how to spend your time there!

Hayle Sands beach spans 3 miles of golden sand from Hayle Estuary to Godrevy Point – famous for its lighthouse. Dogs are allowed in certain sections all year round and being patrolled by RNLI lifeguards in peak seasons makes it a popular destination for swimming and surfing.

Gwithian Beach is also highly regarded, with its swells making it a top spot for water sports. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a grey seal!
5. ART, HISTORY & MORE!
For a more remote corner of the world, west Cornwall is a surprising hub for all things arty. With many local galleries and the Tate to explore, St Ives in particular is renowned as an epicentre for the British Modernist movement.

And with such beautiful scenery, you can see why!
Don’t forget to explore the independent shops for keepsakes.
History more your thing? There’s the Ancient Village of Chysauster, Geevor Tin Mine Museum and a number of monuments to visit, including Men-an-Tol and Lanyon Quoit.

6. FAMILY DAYS OUT
If you’re looking for even more reason to visit west Cornwall, there are a number of attractions that might be for you.
Paradise Park and Jungle Barn is home to farm animals, red pandas and an impressive flock of Caribbean flamingos! There’s also a soft-play, amazing educational shows and the Jungle Express train to take you for a ride around the grounds.
For those who want a bit more action, there’s Go-Karting or a giant Slip & Slide, guaranteed to put a smile on the face of those looking for an adrenaline hit.
If you’re happy to venture a bit further, The Eden Project in northeast Cornwall is about 50-minutes away travelling by car. It’s worth a visit for the impressive biomes, choice of adventure activities (including England’s fastest zip-wire) and in the winter months, home to an ice-skating rink!
