Bank Holiday Barnstaple Beer Festival Returns
The South West is home to some of the UK’s best breweries and beers...fact!
That’s not just my opinion as a beer lover – the breweries close to our holiday parks in Devon often receive accolades and awards for their quality produce.
And what better way to show off the local brews than a good ol’ beer festival! The North Devon Beer Festival returns to Barnstaple Pannier Market at the end of this month, over the final May Bank Holiday.
After the resounding success of 2014, plans are coming together for this year’s festival, with an even busier programme lined up!
The festival showcases the area’s best food and drink, with over 40 real ales and ciders, Calaca Loca Mexican street food, Monty’s Caribbean Kitchen, The Whiddon Wagon fish and chips plus live entertainment over the two days.
Event organiser Tim Webster has also confirmed the addition of two brand new breweries for 2015’s festival – GT Ales and The Braunton Brewery.
Tim said: "We also have sponsors Optimum Heating on board and we are brewing a special beer for them, which we expect to be called Optimum Ale."
The North Devon Journal will also be sponsoring the event.
This year also brings a brand new competition, which will see the beers battle it out to be voted the people’s favourite. Festival-goers will be urged to make a vote on their favourite brew, with an incentive of winning a cask of the top beer.
For those taking their Devon holidays over the final May Bank Holiday, the festival takes place on Sunday 24th May 24, from 12pm to 10pm and Monday 25th May between 12pm and 8pm.
