British junior surfers recruit Made In Chelsea star for fundraising efforts
Yo, it's Freddy!
Back in January Paxo wrote about Made In Chelsea star Andy Jordan coming to Devon to teach surfing.
Well now 4 North Devon surfers, who have been selected in the British squad for the World Championships, have recruited the star for a promotional video to help their fundraising.
Peony and Taz Knight, Flora Lawton and Will Bailey â who you may have seen ripping up the waves at Croyde during your self catering holidays â along with the rest of the squad need to raise £10,000 towards their trip to the Championships.
Surfing GB's Nick Rees said:âIt's tough finding significant sponsorship.
âDespite its popularity, surfing still doesn't receive any government funding, so the GB squads now have to completely self-fund to represent their country.â
The team have setup a Crowdfunder page for donations.
British team manager, John Ellis said: âThe great thing about Crowdfunder is it enables lots of people to just put in a small donation.
âIf every surfer out there put in a couple of pounds and all the hundreds of businesses that benefit from surfing put in £10-20, we would soon reach our target.
âWe want to ensure we send a team of the best surfers, chosen on merit, not on ability to pay.â
Hear what Andy Jordan has to say in the video below. Hopefully I'll be getting a couple of surfing lessons off him this summer while I'm down that way visiting Ilfracombe Holiday Park, Combe Martin Beach Holiday Park and Sandaway Beach Holiday Park.
