Camels to take the spotlight in St Ives December festivities

The bustling streets of St Ives you're used to seeing on your caravan holidays in Cornwall will be transformed this December, as the town welcomes Christmas lights, decorations, Santa and...camels.

St Ives December Festivities | John Fowler Cornwall Holidays

That's right, camels. For the first time this Christmas three camels will be stealing the spotlight during the annual procession.

Festivities kick off Friday 4th December, as three kings ride the camels to greet Santa onto dry land down at the harbour. Santa might have swapped his trusted reindeers for the RNLI crew for that journey.

The Mayor of St Ives and fundraiser Madison Glinski will officially switch on the town's Christmas Tree Lights at the Fishermen's Huts. Entertainment will also come from the community carol singing group and music from the St Ives Concert Band.

Visitors will again line the streets to catch the annual procession, which will involve the kings and camels, Santa and his sleigh, a band of puppets, pantomime characters from the Kidz R Us Christmas Show, impressive stilt walkers, jugglers and local musicians.
