Conquer the Wales Three Peak Challenge

If you are looking for a new challenge, then why not push yourself to the peak and climb the three highest mountains in Wales?

We are lucky enough to have two parks nestled in the rugged Welsh countryside - Cardigan Bay and Llanrhidian Holiday Park. A visit to Wales is an absolute must, and what better way to appreciate it than taking in the views from the tops of the highest mountains?

Snowdon:

The tallest of the three mountains, situated in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. This is the second highest mountain in the UK standing at an intimidating 1,085 metre (3,560 feet.) There are six different paths you can take to the summit. All paths are rated hard/strenuous and take between 6-7 hours (ascent and descent round hike) to complete. Details of the routes, travel tips and guides can be found here.

Cader Idris:

Still in the Snowdonia National Park, Cader Idris sits proud at 892 metres (2,930 feet.) It has three routes, all rated hard/strenuous and should take around 5-6 hours to complete. The autumn months are the perfect time to tackle this mountain, which is normally quite busy with walkers during the summer. Explore the three possible routes, guides and advice given here.

Pen Y Fan:

The smallest - yet still by no means an easy feat - Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales stands at 886 metres (2,900 feet.) There are three routes to access, ranging from easy to hard. The easiest route, playfully named the 'motorway' by locals, can be completed in a 3-4 hour round hike. Again, accessing the mountain is made far easier if visiting in the autumn months compared to the summer. The two harder routes take around 5 and between 7-8 hours to complete. You can read more about the routes and guides here. This is a great mountain to finish on, as it's the closest to our holiday parks - the perfect place for a well-earned rest post-adventure!

As with any hike or mountain climb, always check the weather before setting off, stick to your route and take plenty of liquids, layers, protection from the weather (be prepared for all types in the good old land of Wales!) and have some form of navigation and means of contact. But most of all - have fun!
