Cornwall scoops British Travel Award for sixth consecutive year
Last week brought one of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated award ceremonies of the year...
Nope, I’m not talking about the American Music Awards, but the largest awards programme in the UK, The British Travel Awards!
For the sixth consecutive year Cornwall scooped gold in the prestigious Best UK Holiday Destination category! A tip of the hat to those that return to holidays in Cornwall every year – exceptional taste you have!
Northumberland took silver in the same category, with Devon making up the top 3 and taking the bronze award.
Head of Visit Cornwall, Malcolm Bell, said: “The love for Cornwall shows no sign of abating.”
“As well as boasting a very loyal and passionate visitor base, Cornwall is well-known for turning first-time visitors into lifelong fans.”
“Holding the title for six years is real cause for celebration for everyone involved in the industry, it represents value in our product and strength in the Cornwall brand.”
Congratulations also go out to a number of attractions that surround our holiday parks in Cornwall for bringing more awards back to the county. The Eden Project once again claimed gold in the Best UK Leisure Attraction category, while the National Maritime Museum Cornwall took silver for a second year for Best UK Heritage Attraction. Finally, it was awesome to see Bude being recognised in the Best UK Coastal Resort category, taking home the bronze award.
Cementing its place as the largest travel and tourism awards in the UK, The British Travel Awards 2014 attracted an unbelievable 1.25million votes in categories that included transport, destination, cruise, customer service, holiday extras, and accommodation.
