Croyde building up to National Sandcastle Competition

No Devon holidays are complete without a day down Croyde beach building huuuge sandcastles...agreed?

The difference for those of you visiting during the last weekend of August, is you could go home from our holiday parks in Devon as National Sandcastle Champions!

Yep that's right, the 19th UK National Sandcastle Competitions returns to Croyde this month, and organisers are in a determined mood to make this one the biggest and best yet.

The competition is run by North Devon Homes and will again raise money for a local charity, the North Devon Hospice. Last year saw a fantastic £2,500 raised on the day, here's to hoping that figure is topped this year!

Michelle West from North Devon Homes said: “We really want to make this year's event a huge success to raise even more money for the North Devon Hospice, which does such an amazing job here in North Devon.”

“We want to encourage as many families as possible to join the competition, spending time working together, doing something a little bit different.”

Whatever the weather, sandcastles will be built! This year sees a brand new category too – the Family Sandcastle Competition, so round up all your family members and get stuck in. If you're not competing there's plenty to keep you entertained, with a DJ, live music, face painting and of course some delicious ice cream trailers.
