Easter What's On Guide 2018
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME - it's my birthday week! This is my favourite time of year at our UK holiday parks, we have so many cool activities happening over the Easter Holidays, some fantastic local events around our Devon, Cornwall & Somerset holiday parks and we get to eat chocolate for breakfast!
I have made a 'what's on' list around our Devon, Somerset & Cornwall caravan parks this Easter half term.
Pennywell Farm - The farm really comes to life in spring and so much going on there’s never been a better time to visit. Meet the new arrivals and help bottle feed Easter babies, pond dip for tadpoles, cuddle pigs and pets and cheer on this seasons racing pigs at 2:30. A full line-up of top notch entertainment with 2 Big Shows daily.
The BIG Sheep- The BIG Sheep will be open to visitors for its annual Easter Eggstravaganza Festival from the Friday 30th March & Sunday 15th April. As well as having over 30,000 chocolate eggs to find, there will be something for all the family to enjoy this Easter. Fluffy bunnies, chocolate eggs, bulbs bursting into colour and cute new born lambs are just some of the wonderful things to see at the BIG Sheep this Easter.
As well as having the chance to find your own delicious eggs, you may also experience Spring first hand with the new born lambs.Children will never forget the magical moment of seeing a new born lamb take its first steps and will love helping bottle feed some of our orphan lambs.
Torquay's Dinosaur World - Visit the only dinosaur exhibition in south Devon during the Easter holidays for the rooaarsome Dinosaur Easter Egg Hunt. Be a brave explorer to get close and personal with the dinosaurs, and be a Palaeontologist to discover fascinating fossils and find out who has been stealing the dinosaur eggs. Use the clues to solve the mystery and win a special Easter Edition Dinosaur Expert Certificate, a selection of real 160 million-year-oldfossils, and a chocolatey treat. Plus, win a Dinosaur World T Shirt and a Dinosaur Goodie Bag full of toys, models and fossils with our Easter Card competition.
The Milkyway - This Easter visitors to this award-winning theme park will be able to enter into a specially-crafted Easter Grotto and meet the Easter Bunny. Helped by the friendly Eggsperts, you’re invited to Easter Bunny HQ where you venture past the crazy control panel, which controls the production of the entire world’s chocolate eggs. Then creep down the bunny-themed secret passage with its light up carrots … and into the Easter Bunny’s cosy front room, where all those aged 1-12 will meet the Bunny and receive a free chocolate egg.And that’s not all! The Easter fun from Thursday 29th March to Thursday April 12th,also includes an Easter treasure hunt!
Plus on Saturday April 7th Star Wars fans will be excited to hear that Storm Troopers and other characters from the legendary films are returning once again to The Milky Way –this is your chance to meet and take pictures with characters from the films as they patrol the park.
Babbacombe Model Village- Daily from March 29th - April 15th, can you find all of the hidden eggs, some may be eggstremely hard to find, but it will be eggscellent if you can find all 20. A chocolatey treat for all successful young eggsplorers!
Combe Martin Wildlife Park- Join the Dino Egg Hunt at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park this Easter. Search for the 10 missing dinosaur eggs scattered around the park and win an Easter treat – the hunt will be on throughout the whole of the school holidays, not just the Easter weekend, giving everyone the opportunity to join in the fun whatever day they visit.
Camel Creek- Camel Creek is hard to beat this Easter, egg-specially with two weeks of exciting events starting from the 30th March. Families are invited to take part in a cracking day out at Camel Creek during the Easter Holidays and take advantage of the Free Return*. Revel in the Golden Egg Hunt for a chance to ANNUAL WIN MEMBERSHIP** or come along to see kids favourites Peppa Pig at intervals on 3rd April and Titan the Robot on the 10th April… HOW EGG-CITING! Flambards- Younger visitors can enjoy experiments, explosions and a chocolate egg trail as part of an action-packed Easter at Flambards Theme Park (March 24th-April 15th). On April 1st Flambards’ foxy mascot Ferdi will be leading the BIG Easter Egg Quiz Trail, find the clues dotted around the park, then hand in your quiz sheet for a chocolate egg. There’s live daily entertainment from April 9th-15th including Ferdi Shows, Billy Wizz the Magician (10th), the Creepy Crawly Show (12th). The park’s award-winning indoor Victorian Village is staging its own quiz trail too!
Eden Project - Enjoy a 3 week programme of family fun at Eden this Easter! With loads of activities for you to enjoy - go eggsploring on an egg hunt, take on a giant inflatable challenge, and find your way through the spring maze.
Newquay Zoo - EGGSTREME EASTER EGG TRAIL at Newquay Zoo! Join the troup of Easter bunnies at Newquay Zoo for family filled fun and games over Easter weekend. Take part in an amazing egg hunt, sponsor a duck in the daily duck race, make your own Easter hat and have a brilliant day out.
Cornwall Wildlife Trust - Join Your Shore Beach Rangers in Bude search the shore for shark and ray eggcases. We will make Easter bonnets with all of the shoreline treasures and work together to ID any eggcases you find.
Healey's Cornish Cider Farm - This Easter sees the new arrival of Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm’s Peter Rabbit-themed Cornish afternoon teas. Enjoy tasty treats with the opportunity to meet real rabbits as part of the farm experience. This afternoon tea experience has been inspired by the 2018 Peter Rabbit film, Healeys has created the ultimate twist on the classic English treat to savour among the apple orchards.
Pirate's Quest- Join the crew at Pirate’s Quest this Easter (24th March – 15th April) as they embark on a special mission set by Captain Blackbeard, to locate the legendary Golden Egg. To mark the 300th anniversary of Blackbeard’s death, discover the infamous captain’s forgotten legacy during the hour-long walkthrough experience. Join LIVE performers as they portray members of Blackbeard’s Republic of Pirates; a real band of buccaneers who ruled the sea during the 1700s.
Wookey Hole - From 24th March – 15th April NEW Animatronic Dinosaurs will be roaming the valley! Our amazing caves and tunnels offer a unique experience to all with a guided tour which takes you deep underground inside the Mendip Hills. See where the legendary witch was found and marvel at the spectacular rock formations! Wookey Hole Circus Shows will be running during the holiday where our young performers really steal the stage with their amazing skill at trapeze, juggling, hula and more! Circus workshops will also be running during the holidays so why not come and have a go? **Shows and workshops run on alternate selective dates
The Wookey rabbits have left a trail for you to find... Collect all the letters to spell the magic word with a FREE Easter treat for every child! The Witch of Wookey Hole will also be here to meet visitors daily throughout the holidays.
Noah's Ark Zoo Farm - This Easter enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt like no other at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. Children can paint their very own egg in the morning and in the afternoon the eggs will be hidden around the zoo for the children to find. The Meerkats will also participate in the egg hunt, over the Easter weekend the decorated eggs will be placed in the Meerkat enclosure for the Meerkats to find!
West Somerset Railway - Come and see Peter Rabbit™ on Saturday 31st March 2018 at Minehead Railway Station. Peter Rabbit will be making personal appearances at intervals between 10am and 4pm. You can also enjoy a 20 mile steam train ride to Minehead Station from any of our stations along the line, with a woodland themed Easter egg hunt, free face painting plus much more.
Western Seaquarium - Back by popular demand, staff at SeaQuarium Weston are gearing up for their annual Easter Eggstravaganza event for three weeks of Easter family fun. From Saturday 24 March to Sunday 15 April, guests will have the opportunity to eggsplore the aquarium to see of all of its fishy inhabitants. Children are encouraged to follow the Eggsplorers Trail and unscramble a secret password to win an Easter prize.
It’s not just Easter eggs hidden around the aquarium; this year the thornback rays have been laying eggs. Ray eggs, known as mermaids purses, can be seen in the nursery tank, where they are kept safe from the larger fish. Staff will be keeping a watchful eye on the eggs to check if they are fertile and to monitor their development over the next five months until they hopefully hatch into baby rays.
Cheddar Caves - The Easter Bunny must have made an unexpected visit to Cheddar because clusters of magical, glow in the dark eggs have appeared in all the nooks and crannies of the mysterious chambers in Gough’s Cave. Grab a trail sheet and egg-splore the cave to crack the mystery code left by the Easter Bunny and as a reward you’ll get your paws on a tasty treat at the end of the eggs-pedition!
