Enjoy a week of family entertainment at Combe Martin Carnival
With less than two weeks to go until this year's Combe Martin Carnival, families staying at Sandaway Beach and Combe Martin Beach Holiday Park will be counting down the days before they can get stuck in to the village's biggest annual event.
Preparations are well under way and the week-long event looks set to be the biggest and busiest yet, so even more reason to cement it into your cheap UK holidays diary!
The carnival kicks off on Saturday 9th August, with the official Opening Event being held in the Pack o' Cards from 3pm. Entertainment includes the Children's Carnival Cake Competition (nom nom!) and the hotly contested Junior Wheelbarrow Race.
Without doubt my favourite day is at Combe Martin Beach on Sunday 10th. Competitors take to the sea to race their homemade rafts! It's great fun to watch, fancy dress is compulsory so there are lots of impressive outfits on show – some of the rafts aren't bad either!
A popular day for our guests on their cheap short breaks UK is the Wednesday, when hundreds of people line the village's streets for the Carnival Parade. Spectacular floats, walking groups and music flow through the streets from Holdstone Way to Newberry Farm.
The adult version of the Wheelbarrow Race will take place Friday evening followed by a dazzling beach firework display.
The carnival draws to a close on Saturday 18th, but not before some awesome classic cars, supercars and motorbikes are put on show in the coach park. This year you're even able to vote for your favourite motor in categories that include Best Pre 1960, Best 1960-1979, Best 1980 Onwards and Best Overall.
