Freddy’s Favourite 5: Cornwall Events in June
Cornwall is a lively place to visit all year round, but I reckon June just about pips it as the top month. After all, it does host the county's most impressive event!
The overall programme of events is overflowing with family fun and I can guarantee these will set you up for a spot-on summer!
Here in my latest 'Favourite 5' blog, I give you my pick of June events, and all are within easy reach of our Cornwall caravan sites UK.
Royal Cornwall Show - 05-07 June
This week 130,000 people will flock to Wadebridges' showground for Cornwall's flagship event â the Royal Cornwall Show.
The showground, which is around 35 minutes from Perran View Holiday Park, will be bustling with top class entertainment, competition, exhibits, shopping and all that's best about Cornish food and farming.
The main arena programme is jam-packed with shows, including Bloddog Lings Freestyle Motocross Team backflipping through the air and the awesome RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team. Trust me, you won't have seen anything like this before!
Did you know the first Royal Cornwall Show was held all the way back in 1793? I definitely wasn't blogging about John Fowler's UK caravan parks all the way back then!
Electric Beach Festival - 07â08 June
Watergate Bay, 15 miles from Perran View Holiday Park, plays host to the Electric Beach Festival for a third year this weekend.
It's shaping up to be one the best beach parties in the UK, with backing from O'Neill and now over two full days!
The Saturday will have an upbeat atmosphere, headlined by one of hip hop's greatest DJs, Grand Master Flash. Sunday will have more of a chill-out theme, with reggae/dance vibes from headliners Zion Train.
O'Neill will be bringing some of their sickest surfers to showcase their talent on perfect Watergate Bay surf.
Polperro Festival - 14â22 June
Visitors to Killigarth Manor Holiday Park in mid June can kick-start their summer at the Polperro Festival.
The 9 day free event has everything from live music to, arts, crafts, comedy, photography and much more for the whole family to take in.
Live music includes rock bands, folk, male choirs and brass bands, with local pubs booking their own acts too to continue entertaining into the evening. Top comedian and TV funny man Patrick Monahan headlines the much anticipated Comedy Night on Wednesday 18th June.
But my favourite part has to be the unique Mock Mayor-Making ceremony. The chosen one takes a tour of the village's pubs, sampling the local ales on offer and ends up getting dunked in the sea!
Newquay Surf 7's - 28â29 June
This pick won't come as a surprise to readers of my blog! If like me, your sport mad, you won't want to miss out on Newquay Surf 7's.
Newquay Surf 7's is hosted at Newquay Sports Centre, not far from Perran View Holiday Park, and is THE biggest rugby sevens tournament in the West Country â attracting over 100 of the best teams in the UK and across Europe.
You'll get to see two days of fast-paced and tough tackling rugby completely free. On Saturday the best teams face off in the Mens and Womens Open Event. Sunday is a little less competitive, with the Mens Social Cup and Veteran's 10's.
Looe Food Festival - 28â29 June
Those staying at Trelawne Manor Holiday Park over the last weekend in June should clear some space in their diaries for the Looe Food Festival â I know Cheffy will!
You'll get a true taste of Cornwall at this festival, with over 40 stalls celebrating produce from Cornwall and the surrounding areas. Cornish teas, wines, fresh seafood and hand-made chutneys can all be bought, so you can take a piece of Cornwall home from your static caravan holidays.
Guest and local chefs will be doing demonstrations with the local produce on offer, so you'll be able to recreate their tasty dishes from the comfort of your own kitchen!
