Fun things to do in Brixham
The south coast of Devon has so much to offer visitors; from bustling harbours to quiet coves and plenty in-between. We rounded up some of the best things to do whilst on holiday at our South Bay Holiday Park.
The harbour is the perfect place to enjoy freshly-caught fish in the many cafés and restaurants. With stunning views out to sea, plenty of local wildlife to spot, and a great walk along the breakwater, it’s not to be missed during your stay.
A famous landmark on the Brixham waters is the Golden Hind Museum Ship. A complete historical replica, the ship provides a fascinating museum, complete with audio guides and treasure hunts. With a section of the museum below deck, you can delve into seafaring history during all weathers.
Berry Head National Nature Reserve
The nature reserve is the perfect spot for immersing yourself in stunning ocean vistas and iconic wildlife. With historical fort ruins, plenty of walking trails and a dog-friendly café, it’s the ideal location for a coastal getaway.
An iconic feature of the area, the pool is one of the few remaining sea water pools left for the public to enjoy. With on-site facilities and on-duty lifeguards, Shoalstone has everything you need for a great day out with the family. The pool is open from May to September, the perfect time of year for a dip while you enjoy the beautiful views out to sea.
If it’s your first time on a Brixham caravan holiday then this friendly little museum is a great spot for learning all about the area’s history. With interactive exhibitions on fishing and sailing pasttimes in the local area it’s great for keeping the kids busy for a couple of hours. It’s dog-friendly too, so the whole family can join in!
A quiet and secluded cove, Fishcombe is perfect for swimming and paddle boarding. Dogs are welcome and a perfectly situated café is on standby for all your cake and ice-cream needs! Enjoy the pebble-lined, blue waters as you relax and look out at the stunning view.
A great beach for watching the fishing fleets come in and for spotting local wildlife, like seals and porpoises. This is also a great spot for coastal walks, or simply relaxing in the South Devon sun. Bliss!
