Ilfracombe land train returns after successful first year
Ciao friends!
Last year Freddy blogged about a brand new attraction, The Dotto Train, making its debut in Ilfracombe over the Easter holidays.
After a super successful first year, it's been revealed the land train is back for 2015, returning next month for visitors to again enjoy during their cheap UK short breaks.
The decision to bring the attraction back comes after Filers Travel said they had been surprised by its popularity â with over 7,000 visitors and locals using the train last year.
Managing Director of Filers, Roy Filer, said: "Last year was all last minute. We had to try and get drivers and find our way around it. Now we know what we are talking about and how it all works."
"It will be operated more this year than last year, as much as 50% more than last year. It gives more people the chance to see it and ride."
Plans are in place to run The Dotto Train later into the evening during the summer months, as well as increasing the number of days it's in operation.
Currently the train takes in sights like the Landmark Theatre, high street, Hillsborough and Damien Hirst's famous Verity. There are also plans to tweak the route, so visitors can take in the beautiful stretch of seafront.
Councillor Geoff Fowler added: "It has become quite a feature in the town, both residents and tourists appreciate it, and it really provides a service that this town needed.â
The service will re-open for Easter weekend, before returning to a full schedule in the summer.
