Ilfracombe Lighting of the Lights
Tonight it's Ilfracombe's turn to illuminate the streets and instil a festive spirit into another corner of North Devon, at the annual Lighting of the Lights ceremony.
This year's special guest, and the man tasked with switching on the town's Christmas lights, is former Neighbours star Mark Little (or Joe Mangel as some of us know him).
Festivities begin at 6.15pm, just down the road from our holiday parks at the War Memorial, where carol singers will be on hand to entertain the crowds before the big switch-on at 7pm. Children from the junior school will also join the celebrations after a candlelight procession through the High Street.
Mark, who's starring in Jack and the Beanstalk at The Queen's Theatre over Christmas, will be joined by the panto cast on an open top bus to flick the on switch.
An impressive firework display will follow before the bus accompanies Santa and his sleigh on a parade along the twinkling High Street. You'll also get chance to meet the cast and Santa âat the finish!
Lighting of the Lights also marks the opening of late night shopping. Yes that's right ladies, for a whole month we can continue shopping into the evening! I think that's just sealed the deal for me, I'll be taking a stroll down to the festivities from our UK holiday parks.
