It's National Gardening Week!

Hello my fellow Foxy friends! This spring is one of my favourite times of year, and this week is the country's biggest celebration of gardening - National Gardening Week! I take huge pride in tending to the flowers and grounds at our UK holiday parks alongside our fantastic staff.

This annual event started over eight years ago and has grown in popularity each year. Last year hundreds of events took place up and down the country, with people sharing their passion for plants on social media. The idea behind the annual week, is to raise awareness of the difference gardens and gardening can make to the lives of everyone in the UK. It seeks to inspire more people, but also the next generation of gardeners among us.

One of our main aims at our caravan parks recently has been to attract more wildlife to the gardens of our holiday sites. The huge array of wildlife in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset allows us to make our land a safe haven all of the different kinds of wildlife. We have added an extensive list of fruit and nut bearing shrubs and nectar bearing flowers and plants to provide shelter and food.

We have also made a variety of wildlife habitats such as Bee B&B's, Owl Boxes, Bug Hotels, Bat Boxes and much more by using natural resources from our holiday park gardens.

Although we make sure the gardens are well maintained it's also very important to leave some rough and wild areas of grass to encourage wildlife and leave large trees untouched for nesting.

This years National Gardening Week campaign is focused upon home-grown produce, highlighting that everyone has space to grow something delicious to eat, whether it's a single pot of herbs on the windowsill or an allotment overflowing with courgettes and tomatoes. You can find out how to get involved by visiting the National Gardening Week website here.

Cheffy loves to cook with fresh ingredients, he has some fantastic recipes he makes in the caravan accommodation using home grown produce! Growing your own vegetables, herbs or salad is a great activity and one that the whole family, young or old can get involved in! We have a huge range of organic seeds with clear sowing instructions included, the hardest part is deciding what to grow!
