Lonely Planet ranks South Devon beach in Europe Top 10

Ciao foxy club friends!

When it comes to opinions on beaches, I'll always side with my country of heritage – I believe Italy has some of the most spectacular beaches on the planet. If you were to ask Freddy the same question, he'll tell you the beaches that surround our Devon caravan parks are the best around.

Banter aside, we do have some quality beaches down here in the South West, and it looks like the European experts over at Lonely Planet agree! The travel giants have ranked a picturesque South Devon stretch as one of Europe's top 10 beaches.

Lonely Planet Europe Top 10 | John Fowler Devon Caravan Parks

Bantham Beach, near Kingsbridge on the South Devon coast, is the only English beach to make the list, beating places like Woolacombe, Sennen and Croyde.

The South Hams stretch, described as "a true all-rounder", ranked 6th, fending off competition from Minorca, Greece and Lithuania.

Bantham Beach is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with panoramic views over Bigbury Bay and the Burgh Island. It's a popular choice for families on caravan holidays in Devon due to its safe swimming, many rock pools and excellent surfing conditions.

Tom Hall, Editorial Director of Lonely Planet, said: "The destinations have been chosen by our team of European experts."

"Some may be surprising, some are definitely under the radar, but all of them are great places to visit right now."
