Magical Adventures for Kids in Cornwall

Cornwall is renowned for being one of the most popular staycation regions in the UK for family holidays. It's easy to see why - with beautiful beaches, stunning coastal path walks, heaps of history and plenty of fun family attractions, it really is the place to be. It's why we have several of our holiday parks nestled there! But there are some particularly magical places that you can take the kids when you come to Cornwall. We've broken it down into some of our favourites.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

The Lost Gardens of Heligan in St Austell are a hidden delight of jungle, sculptures and interactive wildlife projects. Let the children’s imaginations run wild in the sub-tropical paradise and atmospheric Victorian grounds.

The rainforest biome at The Eden Project

Step into another world in the fully immersive rainforest biome at The Eden Project in St Austell. Climb the slopes to the top of the biome, cross the wobbly bridge, explore the interactive displays and maybe even spot the Roul Roul birds hiding in the undergrowth. Just make sure you take water with you – it’s a real jungle in there!

Seal spotting at Godrevy

Godrevy is the perfect spot to observe the resident seal colony. Perhaps they’ll be popping out to sea to fish, or hauling out onto the rocks to rest with full bellies. All you need is a pair of binoculars and the children can have fun learning all about some of Cornwall’s iconic wildlife.

Take them underground at Poldark Mine

Enter the mines of Poldark, Helston and let the kids learn all about what life underground was like. Guided tours through the mines will teach you all about the ancient tin mine workings and the setting of the popular TV series.

A trip on Looe Valley line

Linking the bustling market town of Liskeard with the quaint harbour town of Looe, the train is the perfect way to enjoy the picturesque journey. The Looe Valley line is treasured by locals and visitors alike, with beautiful views out of the carriages and the perfect way for the family to get around.

Explore the ruins of Restmorel Castle

Lostwithiel is home to the impressive ruins of Restmorel Castle. Built in the late 13th century the once impressive castle is now a prominent part of history, its ruins making quite the statement amongst the Cornish countryside. Explore the inner workings of the castle and learn all about its iconic past. The kids can have fun playing knights and princesses!

Spot 'fairies' at Carnglaze Caverns

Explore the Carnglaze slate caverns in Liskeard with their mystic fairy lights and deep pools, before you wander the enchanted forests of the eight acres of ancient oak woodland within the valley. You can learn all about Cornwall’s mining heritage as you delve into the depths of the slate mines.
