North Devon prepares for 8th annual Foodfest

It's been a while since my last culinary piece of content, but this week brings an event I just KNOW you guys on your caravan holidays in Devon will want all the juicy details on!

This Sunday thousands of local and visiting foodies will follow the aroma straight to the open-air Barnstaple Pannier Market, which will be brimming with local producers offering the region's favourite tastes as part of North Devon Foodfest.

Back for an eighth straight year, the event promises to be another resounding success, and despite a bumper 13,500 visitors in 2014, event organisers expect the latest Festival to bring the largest crowds yet.

More than 100 local producers and retailers will fill the Pannier Market, offering everything from meats, curries and chocolates to cheese, ales and fine wines.

Elsewhere, the nearby Queen's Theatre will again host the chef demonstrations. Throughout the day you can grab some top tips from local cooks that include Mark Dodson from The Masons Arms, Daniel Tugwell from The Rams Head Inn, Tim Maddams from Devon's Green Sauce, Chantelle Gerken and Alan Shaw from Brend Training Academy Apprentices and Jamie Coleman from Saunton Sands Hotel.

Dez Turland and Stuart White from Brend Hotels will again tackle the Ready Steady Challenge, creating dishes from a surprise bag of ingredients sourced from the Foodfest.

Festival Organiser Kristy Webbe, from North Devon+, said: “We are really excited to once again showcase the best the North Devon larder has to offer with exhibitors old and new.”

“We also have a fantastic chef line up on the demo stage where you can pick up some top tips throughout the day.”
