Paxo’s Celeb Watch: The Hairy Bikers Spotted in Polperro
We’d have to go back to the summer for the last instalment of ‘Paxo’s Celeb Watch’, but I’ve got news of a recent hair-raising encounter for local residents close to one of our Cornwall holiday parks...
That’s right, popular television personalities Si King and Dave Myers, commonly known as the Hairy Bikers, were spotted filming in the beautiful village of Polperro last week.
The duo were exploring the delights of Cornwall as part of their new, and yet to be revealed, TV series for the BBC. Early rumours suggest the series is based on “the pubs that built Britain” and that’s strengthened after Dave said: “no food this time- it’s all about the pubs – so all fun and stories.”
Si and Dave, famed for their cookery programmes and impressive facial hair, filmed throughout the day in a variety of locations. Dave started the morning out on a boat with ex harbour master Chris Curtis, even catching a cod on their brief trip, while Si took a stroll around the small streets of Polperro.
Owner of Polperro News general store, Will Fathers, said the Hairy Bikers’ visit had created excitement around the community. He said: “There has certainly been interest from a lot of people, a bit of a buzz about the place.”
“It’s gone very well. They seem happy and got some nice shots.”
The day finished with filming at the Three Pilchards pub, where news had spread of an impending visit from the Hairy Bikers, and a large crowd had gathered. Filming continued the next day at a spot a lot of you will have visited during your holidays in Cornwall – Jamaica Inn.
A broadcast date is yet to be confirmed, but make sure you tune it when it airs – you should see some familiar locations around Killigarth Manor Holiday Park. If you ‘Like’ my Facebook page I’ll try to keep you guys posted on when to catch the episode.
