Preparations well under way for next month’s North Devon Show
Ciao people!
One of North Devon's flagships events is just around the corner, and as organisers continue with this year's preparations, I'm on hand to give you all the juicy ingredients...
If you've visited the North Devon Show on your self catering holidays before, you'll know what the event is about, but if you haven't, I'm about to convince you to add it onto your to-do lists...
The show is jam-packed into 1 day of family fun, next Wednesday 5th August in Umberleigh. As the event continues to mature like a delicious cheddar, organisers believe this year will top all of its predecessors.
Topping the bill this year, in the main display arena, The Rockwood Dog Display Team - a varied and impressive display of musical obedience, dog acrobatics, agility, fly ball and even dog vs armed criminal!
Also showcased in the main arena will be Bideford Pipes and Drums and North Devon Pipes and Drums, pony club games, parade of hounds, the parade of prize winners plus a display of classic motors.
Elsewhere you can take in the horse rings, livestock, horticultural marquee, Tarka ring and sheep marquee.
North Devon Show Secretary, Sarah Dart, said: âOn the livestock front we have more than 500 sheep entries, 300 horse entries and 200 cattle entries with many, many breeds being represented."
âThe alpaca section is also extremely popular with the fleece section full to capacity with entries coming from across the country.â
You'll likely find me at the food hall, where four North Devon chefs will be on hand to give workshops using local produce. Here you'll be able to pick up tips from some of the top cooks in the area, then return to your UK self catering holidays and dazzle your family with one of the recipes.
