South West Birdman making a comeback in 2014

After its cancellation last year, the South West Birdman Competition will be making an exciting comeback to Ilfracombe Pier this August.

Visitors to our holiday parks UK over the years will know all about Birdman, but for those that don't, here's the lowdown...

Fearless competitors throw themselves off Ilfracombe Pier in an attempt to live the dream and fly through the air, before plummeting into the harbour beneath. It's simple, whoever flies the furthest wins.

Event organiser Paul Crabb said: "We get a lot of entrants in all manner of weird and wonderful fancy dress but some serious competitors have turned up with some pretty effective flying machines."

It's quirky coastal events like Birdman that make me think North Devon has some of our best UK holiday parks, it's such a wicked day out!

The event has been running for more than 10 years but was cancelled in 2013 over concerns about local support. This year's return is set to be bigger, busier and better than ever.

Entertaining the crowds will be headliners The Harry Munk Project – a new band including members of chart-toppers Massive Attack – as well as Obsidian, Psylum, Raining Globe, Zamba, Sonic Fusion and Fit For Viewing.

Just a walk down the hill from Ilfracombe Holiday Park, Devon Coast and Golden Coast, Birdman is bags of fun for the whole family, so don't miss out!
