Summer visitors to top 3.8 million in Cornwall!

Well the first official weekend of the summer holidays flew by, and what an awesome one it was! I was super busy with the Foxy Club – you guys on your UK family breaks certainly kept us on our toes!

As many of you begin to pack your bags and prepare your cars for the next weekend, it has been revealed that an unbelievable 3.8 million people will flock to Cornwall this summer, for sun, sea, sand and plenty of pasties.

Visit Cornwall has broken down the figures, stating that 1.2 million holidaymakers will visit from all over the UK, with 79,000 travelling from overseas and a further 2.5 million visiting on day trips.

This major influx of tourists is expected to bring £518 million into the region, and cements Cornwall's place as the number 1 holiday destination in the UK.   

Chief Executive of Visit Cornwall, Malcolm Bell, said: “Cornwall is successfully transforming into a year-round holiday destination but the summer weeks are still key and account for almost a third of the industry.”

“This is the time that our hotels, restaurants, attractions etc do most of their business so we'll be pulling out all the stops to give our visitors the warmest of Cornish welcomes.”
