Things to do in South Wales
Tucked away on the stunning Gower Peninsula, our Llanrhidian holiday park is the perfect base for exploring some of South Wales’ most beautiful coast and countryside. Whether you’re after breath-taking walks, golden beaches, family days out, or a taste of local culture, there’s something for everyone just a short drive (or stroll) from your home away from home.
Explore the Gower Peninsula
The Gower was the UK’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – and once you’ve seen it, you’ll know why. From rolling countryside to dramatic cliffs and sandy bays, the scenery is unforgettable. Popular spots nearby include:
Rhossili Bay – often named one of the best beaches in the world, with sweeping sands, dramatic views, and the famous Worm’s Head.
Oxwich Bay – a family favourite with calm waters for paddling, dunes to explore, and a beach café for seaside treats.
Three Cliffs Bay – a little more adventurous to reach, but worth it for the iconic views and peaceful setting.
Walking and wildlife
If you love walking, you’re in the right place. The Gower Coast Path winds past the park’s doorstep, offering everything from short strolls to day-long hikes with unbeatable sea views. The nearby Llanrhidian Marsh is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to wildfowl, waders, and even grazing ponies and sheep.
Family Days Out
Looking for something the kids will love? Check out these top attractions:
Parc le Breos – a magical ancient woodland, great for picnics and gentle walks.
Gower Heritage Centre – a quirky mix of history, crafts, and activities, all set around a 12th-century mill.
Oystermouth Castle – step back in time and explore this fascinating medieval ruin overlooking Swansea Bay.
LC Swansea – a huge indoor leisure centre and waterpark with wave machine, climbing wall, soft play and plenty of fun for all ages.
Food and Drink
No holiday is complete without great food, and Llanrhidian and the wider Gower area don’t disappoint. You’ll find cosy country pubs serving hearty meals, beach cafés with fresh seafood, and traditional Welsh cakes in local bakeries. The King’s Head in Llangennith is a must-visit for pub grub, and don’t miss trying the famous Gower Salt Marsh Lamb, reared right on the marshes near the park.
Swansea and beyond
If you fancy a change of pace, Swansea is just a short drive away. Explore the Marina and Maritime Quarter, enjoy some retail therapy, or spend an afternoon at Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum.
