Top 3 parks for adventure holidays
The busy summer season may be behind us, but there is still plenty of time and opportunity for adventure! Whether you’re a water sports enthusiast or a keen hiker, we have three holiday parks perfectly placed on the doorstep of the great outdoors.
Sat amongst the rugged coastline of North Devon, Sandaway Beach Holiday Park is ideally situated to explore a host of exciting water sport activities - just a few minutes walk from Combe Martin beach! With local surf schools, paddle board and kayak hire companies there is plenty available for ocean enthusiasts. North Devon’s beaches are amongst some of the best in the country, with miles of stretching sand and handy car parks close by, it’s the perfect place to rock up and spend the day out on the water. Many of the schools and hire venues are open throughout the year, so there’s no excuse not to rent a winter wetsuit and get stuck in!
If land adventures are more your style then why not strap on your hiking boots and explore some of the famous South West Coast Path? Easily accessible via the holiday park, you can join the path and explore a variety of terrain from secluded woodland to windy clifftops, looking down over the turquoise seas.
Valley of the Rocks is a great place to explore, scrambling up the impressive rock formations to visit the cheeky goat herds and views out across the Bristol Channel.
If it’s true adrenalin you’re after, then perhaps a visit to Keypitts in Ilfracombe for some off-road adventures. You can try your hand at axe throwing, quad biking, mini Land Rover driving and 4x4 Land Rover experiences.
On the border of Devon and Cornwall, and right on the doorstep of a fantastic surf beach, Widemouth Bay, our caravan park is the perfect place to catch some waves. Right up the road you’ll find OA Surf Club for surf and coasteering schooling, if you want to hone your board skills.
Should you fancy being out on the water and wanting to try something new, head over to the North Devon Wake Park where you can have a go at wakeboarding or challenging your group to a hilarious session on the giant inflatable assault course on the lake. Alternatively you can race them down the Monster Slip and Slide in Bude – a great experience for kids and big kids alike!
Again, if you want to keep to dry land there is access to the South West Coast Path for stunning walks. White-knuckle experience seekers will want to spend a day at one of Devon’s top attractions, The Milky Way Adventure Park, with rollercoasters and both indoor and outdoor amusements.
Trelawne Manor
Nestled in South Cornwall, Trelawne Manor is well-placed for those looking to access many of the iconic Cornish beaches for a host of water sports. But perhaps one of the most exciting nearby attractions is the Adrenalin Quarry. From a 50m high high zipwire over the Wipe Out lake assault course, to the 150ft giant swing and go karts, it certainly the place for the adventurous!
Explorers will also want to visit the famous Eden Project in St Austell. With its rainforest dome featuring a suspended platform right up in the top canopy, it’s a daring viewing spot even for those confident with heights! Outside of the domes, adventure-seekers can fly on England’s fastest zip wire over the biomes, tackle an aerial assault course, or plummet in the giant swing. Such adrenalin activities can be booked through Hangloose, who are not a part of the Eden Project.
