Top 4 things to do in Cornwall this October

Planning on getting away for a break in October, but not sure what's happening around Cornwall?

I've picked out my top 4 events to help you make the most of your Cornwall holidays – check them out here....

Top 4 Things To Do In October | John Fowler Cornwall Holiday Parks

Falmouth Oyster Festival | 08-11 October

Kicking things off is the Falmouth Oyster Festival, a stalwart in the Cornwall events calendar!

The festival highlights the start of the oyster dredging season and specifically celebrates the last remaining traditional oyster fishery in Europe, still dredging by sail and hand punt.

Held annually, festivities are traditionally opened with a cookery master-class from a celebrity chef – this year that's down to Chris Eden of The Driftwood Hotel in Portscatho, who was the first Cornishman to be awarded a Michelin Star for a restaurant in Cornwall.

Over the four days, more than 40,000 visitors are expected in Events Square, taking in cookery demonstrations, local produce, the ale marquees, live music, oyster shucking competition, the boat race plus lots more!

British Stand Up Paddle Surf Championships | 10-11 October

The next event is right up my street and should be an awesome watch – The 2015 BSUPA National Surf Championships.

The Championships return to Watergate Bay for a seventh year and take place over two days, between 10-11 October.

The competition remains the UK's premier SUP event and rivalries are fierce as competitors aim to be crowned champion – with the added incentive of a spot at next year's ISA Stand Up Paddleboard World Championships.

Over the two days competition will be split into three categories – Open Men's, Open Women and JNR Under 16.

Newquay Zoo Boo Halloween Party | 31 October

As if I wasn't going to throw in a Halloween event?

Newquay Zoo is back to host one of the most popular Halloween parties you can find, and it's just a few miles from our holiday parks in Cornwall!
