Tour of Britain returns to Devon
Cycling enthusiasts staying at caravan parks in Devon this September will be excited to hear that the Tour of Britain is returning to the county.
If you're taking your Devon holidays at South Bay Holiday Park, you could experience stage 5 at various points including Woodbury, Tavistock and Okehampton.I checked out stage 7 during the 2012 race while I was at Ilfracombe Holiday Park â it was wicked to watch them speed through the streets of Barnstaple!
The Devon stage of Britain's biggest cycle race will take place Thursday September 11th and cover a huge 106 miles â starting in Exmouth and finishing in Exeter.
Devon County Council member, Stuart Hughes said: âAs we saw in 2011, this route provides a great opportunity for people to make use of the Exe Estuary Trail to see both the start and the finish, and this is another world class sporting event in Exeter ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.â
Over a million people have watched the Devon leg over the past 7 years bringing in a massive £27m to the local economy. Last year alone brought around £5.9m of additional spending and saw record levels of spectators.
