As we march into spring, the Cornwall events calendar is gathering pace and our holiday parks in Cornwall are the perfect base to discover what's going on in the county.

Here are some event dates for your diaries this April...

The Truro Festival | 02-09 April

Kicking off the month, and running over the Easter holidays this year, is The Truro Festival.

An event inspired by the artistic nature of Truro's residents and visitors, the festival is an exciting mix of art, music, theatre, film, dance, literature, comedy and plenty more.

Truro's Lemon Quay will again be a hive of activity, with yurts hosting intimate performances, workshops, talks, art while also providing a general place to vibe out and chill.

Porthleven Food Festival | 16-17 April

For the foodies among my readers, you'll be excited to hear the Porthleven Food Festival is back after its most successful year to date in 2015.

More than 30,000 people visited the historic fishing village last year for food, entertainment and all out family fun. And 2016's festival is shaping up to be bigger and better yet again.

Organisers continue to draw some of the country's most well known chefs and this year there's no exception. One of the festival highlights is the Chef's Theatre, where you can catch live cooking demonstrations from Antony Worrall Thompson, Josh Eggleton, Ben Tunnicliffe, Jack Stein, Fiona Were, Nicky Grant and Stew Eddy.

Art8 – Newquay Arts & Culture Festival | 22-24 April

Over four days in April, Newquay is transformed into an arts hotspot as the Art8 Arts and Culture Festival returns to the seaside town.

Celebrating its 5th birthday in 2016, the festival again bursting at the seams with events, exhibits and workshops covering film, photography, poetry and literature, dance, theatre, music craft plus lots lots more. It's a community festival with something for the whole family, locals and visitors.

English National Surfing Championships | 30 April-02 May

You guys know by now that I love surfing, so I'm super stoked for this month's English National Surfing Championships at Watergate Bay.

The Championships, one of Europe's longest standing surfing competitions, returns to Watergate Bay over the bank holiday weekend from April 30th to May 2nd.

English Champions will be crowned across 14 divisions that include Open, Ladies, Longboard, Masters, Veterans and Juniors.

Anyone looking to catch some world class surfing while at our Cornwall caravan parks should get down to Watergate Bay for the Championships.
