What’s on in Cornwall this July?
If that’s a question you need answering, then you’ve come to the right place.
First of all can you believe we’re in July already? Not that I’m complaining, the summer is officially here!
The Foxy Gang and I are down in Cornwall enjoying this beautiful weather and the county is gearing up for another jam-packed month of exciting events – you’re in for a treat if you’ve chosen July for your family weekend breaks.
I’ve picked out 4 events that caught my eye in July’s calendar, so without further a do...
Lafrowda Festival | 04-19 July
Held annually, the festival initially started as a small music event and has now been transformed into a 2 week arts and entertainment festival, bringing thousands of visitors on their family breaks UK to celebrate the area’s heritage.
Events feature every day throughout the 2 weeks, from local live music to comedy, dance and drama. Lafrowda Day, taking place this year on 19 July, is the pièce de résistance. Roads are closed, streets are lined with stalls and there are 12 hours of family entertainment – the highlights of the day are the amazing processions where giant hand-made sculptures are paraded through the town to beating drums.
Polo on the Beach | 05-06 July
A unique award-winning event is taking place just 20 minutes from Perran View Holiday Park this weekend and it’s free!
Polo on the Beach, returning for its eighth year, brings some of the UK’s finest polo players to the golden sands of Watergate Bay in Newquay.
Three gripping polo matches feature over the weekend, with the ladies taking to the sand first on Saturday afternoon. The men follow, competing for the Watergate Bay Trophy, and Sunday concludes with a much anticipated match between Cornwall and The Rest of the World.
Although the weekend is centred around the polo, there are a variety of other events going on to keep everyone entertained on your UK holidays. A horse stunt riding team will be wowing the crowds, along with live music, welly wanging and a tasty barbeque.
Mousehole Sea Salts & Sail Festival | 11-13 July
The biennial festival revives the heritage of West Cornwall’s most famous fishing village, providing 3 days of family fun along the way!
On both Saturday and Sunday, traditional tall fishing boats sail out of the harbour and around Mounts Bay, giving you a vivid picture of fishing a century ago.
On dry land, local chefs will be holding cookery demonstrations using local seafood and there will be craft workshops, crab pot making, live music and a yummy hog roast!
Dinosaurs Unleashed At The Eden Project | 21 July-02 Sept
From July 21, you can take an exhilarating journey back in time and explore the lost world of Dinosaurs at the Eden Project.
Dinosaurs Unleashed will become the biggest ever summer activity staged by Eden, so pencil it in to your holiday diaries as one not to be missed.
In The Crater of the Tyrant King you’ll come face-to-teeth with the most fearsome predator of all, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Watch as it devours its prey amongst the exotic landscape.
Elsewhere you can help search for the escaped dinosaur, if you’re brave enough that is? Uncover a Stegosaurus skeleton in The Dig Pit and take in an incredible collection of fossils, eggs and even a T-Rex tooth in the Dinosaur Exhibition.
Dinosaurs Unleashed is included in the cost of admission and you can save 15% off tickets purchased online.
