Winter walks in Cornwall
There’s no denying that Cornwall is a beautiful county, no matter what time of year you’re visiting. With the later sunrises and earlier sunsets this time of year, it’s perfect to see the Cornish countryside in all its romantic glory.
Exploring the local area on foot is by far the best way to enjoy Cornwall. From rambling walks through woodland to strolls down the seaside, the array of walks you can enjoy is definitely varied. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite walks that you can find near some of our holiday parks.
Talland Bay to Looe
This is a lovely circular walk comprising of coast and inland trails. Taking in the South West Coast Path, you can begin the walk at the tranquil Talland Bay – close to our Killigarth and Trelawne Manor Holiday Parks. As you follow the coast path, you can enjoy scenic views out to sea with dramatic coastlines and opportunities to spot native wildlife. Your walk will then bring you to the picturesque fishing village of Looe, where you can watch the boats bobbing in the harbour or grab a quick drink in one of the many local pubs.
The rest of the walk enjoys peaceful woodland, as you loop back around to your starting point of Talland Bay again. This is a great walk for blowing the cobwebs out, enjoying perfect scenery and breath-taking winter views.
Kynance Cove to Lizard
If you’re staying out our St Ives Holiday Village, then Kynance Cove should be firmly on your list of must-sees this winter. Arguably one of the most beautiful sights in the UK, at all times of year, its blue waters and jagged rock formations are a real treat for walkers to enjoy.
You can park up at the National Trust car park and take in the stunning views of the cove. You’ll then head away from Kynance along the South West Coast Path until you find the village of Lizard. The Lizard peninsula is the most southerly point in Britain and perfect for looking out over the turquoise ocean.
On the return walk you can take an inland route from Pentreath Lane, taking in the iconically beautiful Cornish heath, before being reunited with Kynance Cove.
Perranporth Beach
If it’s a simple winter wander you’re after, perhaps the kids need some fresh air or the dog needs to burn off some energy, then Perranporth Beach is the place to meander. It’s easy to reach if you’re staying at our Perran View Holiday Park.
With three miles of white sandy beach it’s the perfect place to take in the coastal beauty of Cornwall. Why not grab a pasty in town and a lovely Cornish tea before you head off to explore the headland? There are plenty of coves to delve into here, as well as being one of the most iconic places for wildlife watching. Continue your walk until you reach Harlyn Bay for a real winter jaunt.
