World Pasty Championships
Ciao everyone, Cheffy here again.
The Eden Project is a popular attraction for families on their caravan holidays in Cornwall and it's no wonder when events like the World Pasty Championships are being held there!
The competition's returning for a 3rd successive year and I'm planning on sprinkling a little Italian on it â without giving too much away.
The World Pasty Championships celebrate Cornwall's most famous traditional recipe, but also welcome the unusual and surprising varieties. Entries are invited from around the world, with local bakers looking to set the bar high. The categories include:
Traditional Cornish Pasty â Company
Traditional Cornish Pasty â Professional
Traditional Cornish Pasty â Amateur
Traditional Cornish Pasty â Junior
Open Savoury â Company
Open Savoury â Professional
Open Savoury â Amateur
Open Savoury â Junior
Prices start from £5 for a junior and £10 for all other entries. I'm hoping to join Terry O'Connor and Suzanne Manson on the Open Savoury winners list!
Entertainment features throughout the day, with comedy and live music from Hedluv and Passman â a Cornish rap duo, Grapefruit Moon and Winter Mountain â a contemporary folk band. TV chef James Strawbridge and top pastry chef Martin Chiffers will also be on hand with their best pasty making tips.
The Eden Project is just 35 minutes from Killigarth Manor Holiday Park. To keep up to date on more events throughout the year, visit their website here www.edenproject.com.
