Family Fun at Bank Holiday BrixFest 2016
Are you taking your caravan holidays in Devon at South Bay this weekend?
Well you're in for a treat as one of the area's top events breezes back in to town for a fifth year!
Off the back of a successful BrixFest in 2015, the award-winning festival is gearing up for an even bigger 2016 with brand new attractions and an expanded line-up of events.
BrixFest, winner of South Devon's Best Tourism Event, celebrates Brixham past and present, where visitors from far and wide come and celebrate with Brixham locals. Best part is, it takes place on this sunny bank holiday weekend!
Local chef Mitch Tonks will kick things off at 11am on Saturday 28th May, continuing with cooking demonstrations into the afternoon. Live music, arts and crafts and food stalls will also make up the Saturday, before another spectacular harbour firework display at 9.50pm.
Sunday's standout event is the brand new for 2016 DragonBoat Challenge. Breakwater Beach is the venue, as 11-man teams take part in the ancient Chinese tradition.
Not forgetting the families, Children's Day is back on Bank Holiday Monday from 11am to 3pm. Activities include a petting zoo, creativity tent, face painting, theatre workshops and boat building on Breakwater Beach. Elsewhere on Breakwater Beach the DJR Jet Ski Display Team will be entertain the crowds with an adrenaline-fuelled routines at 12p, 1pm, 2pm and again at 3pm.
On a super busy Monday, there will be also be a 1960s party with live music from Sandy Sparkle and the popular BrixFest Crabbing Competition featuring some great prizes!
The festival comes to a finale on Wednesday 1st June, with the annual classic car rally.
