Make your own Bird Feeder

Why not try attracting more birds to your garden with this simple to make bird feeder. To make your bird feeder you will need:

• A pine cone
• String
• Lard
• Seeds
• Raisins

Put the lard, seeds and raisins in a bowl. Mush it together with your hands until it is well mixed and the lard is soft. Tie a piece of string to your pine cone making sure it is secure. You'll need to allow a long length at the top so you can hang your pine cone. Nest cover the pine cone with the lard mixture making sure you push it into all the holes. Put it in the fridge to set.

Once the lard is set, you can hang the pine cone in your garden. If you have cats, make sure you hang it at a reasonable height and ensure you collect up any seeds that may come loose and fall to the ground. You can now sit back and watch the birds come - see how many different types you can spot!
