Combe Martin is a traditional seaside village with gift shops, fish and chip takeaways, pubs and cafes. It is surrounded by beauty that will take your breath away, with stunning coastline and an award-winning beach. The beach is recognised for its water cleanliness and is particularly good for sea kayaking and rock pooling. Combe Martin is close to many activities including cycling, rock climbing, quad biking, horse riding and golf.
There is a dinosaur park and zoo in the immediate locality along with many other attractions within the North Devon area and in easy travelling distance. Being situated on South West Coast Path, Combe Martin is also great for walking, with routes down to secluded beaches and up over some of the highest sea cliffs in mainland Britain as well as being on the edge of the Exmoor National Park.

Combe Martin Beach
Combe Martin beach is a mixture of mostly shingle and pebbles, but it becomes more sandy as you approach the water. It's a great location for swimming as its sheltered position means that it's protected from particularly strong currents or waves. There are water sports such as kayaking from the beach and it is a great for rock pooling with the kids. Dogs are banned between 1st May and 30th September.
Barnstaple Pannier Market
Largely unchanged in over 150 years, Barnstaple's historic Pannier Market has a wide range of stalls. Open all year round Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm, there is something for everyone. Watch out for monthly Sunday food markets with street food stalls.

Situated directly opposite Combe Martin beach, Downstairs the bar is a great place to relax with a drink, we have a lovely open log fire on all day to keep you warm in the winter months.. Upstairs offers a delicious selection of homemade meals and desserts, and a great wine list. Bar meals are also served downstairs Wednesday - Saturday and on Sundays there is a Carvery. Dogs welcome.

Difficulty: Challenging. An inspiring walk with far-reaching views over coast and hills. Listen out for warblers, as well as nesting seabirds on the cliffs and ravens on the hillside. Please note this walk includes steep, muddy paths that can be very slippery, with substantial ascent and descent.

Difficulty: Challenging. This is a truly spectacularly wild and beautiful section of the South West Coast Path, which includes some easy cliff paths across farmland around Ilfracombe and Woolacombe and some more strenuous ascents, especially between Lee Bay and Morte Point. The area around Morte is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its beautiful maritime heathland and grasses.

Difficulty: Easy. This short circular walk along the western flank of Baggy Point will reward you with far-reaching coastal, sea and farmland views. It's also an excellent place to see wild flowers and for a spot of bird-watching. The area is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geological features.

Difficulty: Strenuous. This is part of R. D. Blackmore's Lorna Doone territory and the landscape is so extraordinary that legend has explained its origin as the acts of the Devil. From here there are some challenging climbs, including reaching the highest point of the South West Coast Path, and lovely views along beautiful stretches following the edge of the land, away from civilisation.
